Swift microwave treatment for verrucae and warts

Swift treatment for warts and verrucae is a cutting-edge technique that uses microwave energy to target and eliminate the virus causing the skin growth. It's a non-invasive procedure that doesn't require anaesthesia or dressings, allowing patients to return to normal activities immediately. The treatment involves applying a probe to the affected area, delivering controlled microwave energy to heat and destroy the infected tissue, potentially triggering an immune response. How it works: Swift uses microwave energy delivered through a special probe to target the wart or verruca. The microwaves heat the infected cells, potentially stimulating an immune response to fight the virus. Benefits: Swift treatment is quick, typically lasting only a few seconds per wart or verruca. It doesn't require any local anaesthetic or dressings, allowing patients to return to their normal activities immediately. The treatment is also considered less painful than other methods, with some patients describing the sensation as a brief, hot sting. Treatment process: The podiatrist will first assess the wart or verruca and determine if Swift is appropriate. The probe is then applied to the affected area, and microwaves are delivered for a few seconds. This is repeated several times to deliver a specific amount of energy to the wart or verruca. Success rates: Swift treatment has a high success rate, with some studies reporting up to 86% effectiveness. However, it's important to note that results may vary depending on the size, location, and individual factors. Potential side effects: Some patients may experience mild discomfort or tingling around the treated area for up to 24 hours, but this is usually mild and temporary. In summary, Swift treatment offers a non-invasive, effective way to remove warts and verrucae using microwave energy.

Musculoskeletal and sports injuries

Musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry focuses on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of biomechanical issues in the foot and ankle.
At Five Little Piggies we can offer a range of treatments in this area, including orthotics, activity modification, and exercise programs.

What is MSK Podiatry? MSK podiatry is a specialised area of podiatry that deals with the musculoskeletal system of the foot and ankle. This includes issues with bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons.  MSK podiatrists commonly manage conditions like: Achilles tendinopathy  Plantar fasciitis  Morton's neuroma  Tibialis posterior dysfunction (fallen arch)  Hallux valgus (bunions)  Metatarsalgia  Assessment: A MSK podiatrist will assess your condition using various techniques, including: Weight-bearing tests  Gait analysis (examination of your walking pattern)  Shoe wear assessment  Examination of joints  Assessment of ligaments, muscles, and tendons  Treatment Options: Treatment options may include: Orthotics (custom or off-the-shelf insoles or supports)  Activity modification advice  Exercise programs  Shoe advice  Other treatments like taping.

Nail Surgery

We can offer nail surgery where appropriate. This may involve permanent removal of all or part of a nail under local anaesthetic, ensuring a relatively pain-free experience.

Gel Nail Reconstruction

Gel nail reconstruction is a cosmetic procedure, often performed by a podiatrist, that restores or rebuilds a damaged nail using a specialised gel. It's a way to rebuild or repair an existing nail, offering both aesthetic improvement and protection for the underlying nail bed. The process involves applying layers of gel, hardening them with UV light, and then shaping and finishing the reconstructed nail.

Here's a more detailed breakdown: Purpose: Gel nail reconstruction is a solution for various nail issues, including: Damage: Trauma, fungal infections, or other conditions that damage or destroy the nail.  Unsightly Nails: Reconstruction can improve the appearance of discoloured, deformed, or thickened nails.  Process: The nail bed is prepared, and the existing nail is often buffed or thinned.  Gel Application: Layers of a specialised gel are applied to the remaining nail.  Curing: Each layer of gel is cured under a UV light to harden it.  Shaping and Finishing: The reconstructed nail is shaped, smoothed, and finished with a top coat to provide a natural and polished look.  Benefits: Aesthetic Improvement: Restores the natural appearance of the nail.  Protection: Shields the underlying nail bed.  Comfort: Helps prevent discomfort caused by uneven or thickened nails.  Confidence Boost: Improves the appearance of nails, which can boost self-esteem.  Long-lasting: The reconstructed nail can last for several weeks.
